Description
Peninsula Link is a 27 kilometre four lane connection between the Frankston Freeway-EastLink Interchange at Carrum Downs and the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Mount Martha.
The public private partnership (PPP) contract was awarded to the Southern Way consortium on 20 January 2010 and financial close was achieved on 8 February 2010.
The PPP availability model requires Southern Way to design, build, finance, operate and maintain Peninsula Link, with Government providing quarterly payments for delivery of ongoing services based on key performance indicators.
Construction of the project commenced in February 2010, with the road being opened to traffic on 17 January 2013. Peninsula Link reduces travel times between Carrum Downs and Mount Martha and facilitates tourism and business travel to the Peninsula.
The Linking Melbourne Authority managed the procurement of the road.
